1. Why Slovakia?
History, culture, nature, world-class universities, friendly people, Europe at your fingertips…the list goes on and on! Study in Slovakia was founded by international students who came here for their studies and ended up calling Slovakia home. We see a lot of promise in this small country, right in the heart of Europe, for all types of students to find success. An affordable, first-class education in a vibrant city that sets you on the right path for life-long success – priceless!
2. Do I need to know how to speak Slovak?
Don’t have a clue about the Slovak language? No problem. There are over 2,000 international students and many foreign workers in Slovakia, and most of Bratislava communicates in English. Slovak is a notoriously difficult language to learn – so don’t be surprised to hear English spoken all around you. And your university courses will be conducted entirely in English.
But we do encourage you to learn some Slovak while you’re here!
3. What documents do I need to prepare for my university application?
Each university (and faculty) has their own specific requirements for new students. But they share in common the following requirements:
12 years of education in your home country, culminating in a high school graduation certificate
Copy of a valid passport
GCSE (visit our Get Accepted page for more information)
These are the most important documents needed for a successful application. We’ll work with you to create a specific checklist for your desired degree program and take care of all the paperwork for you.
4. How much are university tuition fees?
All tuition fees are included in Study Programs section.
5. How do I apply to a Slovak university?
First, we recommend you explore our Study Options section to find the best study program for your needs (and we can help you choose if you’re still not sure). Next, our Get Accepted section contains more specific information about how to complete your application. We’ll work with you throughout this process to make sure your application is successful!
6. What are the application deadlines?
Visit our Deadlines section to find all of the deadlines for the upcoming school year.
7. Do I need a visa to come to Slovakia?
There are a number of requirements that need to be met before you can begin your studies in Slovakia.
As a citizen of an EU member-state you must have a valid passport (or a valid ID card) and have to register at the Foreign Police Department in Bratislava or Martin. Please note that if you stay longer than 90 days in Slovakia, you have to apply for a Temporary Residence Permit.
If you are a non-EU student you are invited to apply for a Visa and Temporary Residence Permit at the Embassy or Consulate of the Slovak Republic in your home country prior to your arrival. After your arrival, you will have to register at the Foreign Police Department.
The Slovak government has published a list of these requirements here: http://www.mzv.sk/web/en

11. Does my Slovak student visa allow me to travel in Europe?
Yes. Slovakia is a member of the European Union, and a Slovak student visa allows you to travel within the member countries of the Schengen Area.
